Bolt

College of Energy

Limitations

Costs 2 mana, requires a pointing gesture.

Description

Point at a creature you can see. A silent bolt of magic shoots in their direction. The bolt goes through all matter and homes in on the target, but fizzles out after 60 feet.

Effects

+3 magic damage (Int). Range 60', 2 AP.

Light

College of Energy

Limitations

Requires a gemstone to be held up high, in contact with your hand.

Description

As long as you are holding up a gemstone of your choice, bright light is cast for 30' and dim light for 90' in the color of the gemstone. If the gemstone is opaque, cracked, or otherwise of lower quality, only dim light is cast for 30'.

Effects

Casts light.

Halt

College of Mentality

Limitations

Costs 2 mana, requires a firm holding gesture, as if grabbing another character on the shoulders.

Description

Roll an intellect check against the target. If successful, the character of your choice within 50' is completely halted from walking.

Effects

The targeted character may not move. In combat they also may not dodge or sidestep.

Fire Bolt

Costs 2 mana, requires a pointing gesture.

Description

Point at a creature you can see. A flaming bolt of magic shoots in their direction. The bolt will explode on the first thing it passes into and homes in on the target, but fizzles out after 60 feet.

Effects

+4 fire damage (Int). Range 60', 3 AP.

Silence

College of Mentality

Limitations

Costs 1 mana per character. Target characters must stand in a ring.

Description

Have the targets stand in a circle with you. For the next 10 minutes, any noise each of these characters makes will be muted and difficult to hear. Awareness checks against these characters will not use bonus dice.

Effects

Muted for 10 minutes. The effect can be cast multiple times and will stack (for example, 8 mana per character to silence for 20 minutes).

Hyper Voice

Limitations

Requires speech, makes a lot of noise.

Description

Your speech will be amplified as if through a megaphone. It carries for a quarter mile in ideal conditions, but can also be used to comfortably address crowds.

Effects

You get pretty loud. Literally everyone knows where you are now.

Ice Bolt

Limitations

Costs 2 mana, requires a pointing gesture.

Description

Point at a creature you can see. A freezing bolt of magic shoots in their direction. The bolt will coat the first thing it passes into with 1 square foot of ice and homes in on the target, but fizzles out after 40 feet.

It is possible to freeze normal and smaller character in place using a handful of these. Twice their height in feet is enough.

Effects

+3 ice damage (Int). Range 40', 3 AP.

Poison Bolt

Limitations

Costs 2 mana, requires a pointing gesture.

Description

Point at a creature you can see. A freezing bolt of magic shoots in their direction. The bolt will coat the first thing it passes into with 1 square foot of ice and homes in on the target, but fizzles out after 40 feet.

Effects

+3 poison damage (Int). Range 60', 3 AP. Poisons target.

Moonstone Reconstitution

College of Energy

Limitations

Requires a discharged moonstone. Requires a spoken phrase. Not a perfect energy transfer.

Description

While holding a moonstone, you may put your mana into the moonstone. Half of the mana you spend is lost to the ether.

Effects

Every 2 mana you spend causes the moonstone to regain 1 mana.

Protect

College of Energy

Limitations

Costs at least 10 mana. Requires a verbal shout.

Description

Create a magical shield around a target character or location within 15 feet of yourself. The shield can be no larger than a 5' sphere, but can be in the shape of a dome or a wall as well.

The shield only blocks magical attacks and has hp equal to the mana you spent to cast it.

Effects

Blocks X damage, costs X mana where X >= 10.

Burst

College of Physicality

Limitations

Costs 5 mana. Requires a pushing gesture.

Description

Choose a character you can see. The next time that character uses a movement action, it has twice as much speed for that action.

Effects

Doubles speed for one action.

Decorate

College of Physicality

Limitations

Requires various gestures.

Description

You may light and put out small fires, paint colors onto walls, create sound effects within 20' of yourself, or create an illusion about the size of your hand.

Smoke Screen

College of Physicality

Limitations

Costs 5 mana. Requires blowing.

Description

You blow out smoke from your mouth filling up a 10' radius with full cover around yourself. This cover can be blown away by the wind.

Effects

Full cover.

Ethereal Hand

College of Physicality

Limitations

Costs 3 mana. Requires hand gestures.

Description

Create an ethereal hand within 100' of yourself. This hand is the same size as your own and mimics the movements you perform with your actual hand.

If the ethereal hand hits something with much force is will disappear like smoke, so you can't attack with it. Its strength is half of your strength.

Effects

Duplicates your hand.

Force Pull

College of Physicality

Limitations

Costs 3 AP. Requires a pull gesture.

Description

An object or character of your choice is pulled towards you. Small and light objects will fly into your hands, but larger objects and characters will slide along the ground.

For the larger stuff, roll an intellect check to see how far they move in feet.

Effects

Pulls an object or character. 3 AP.

Charm

College of Mentality

Limitations

Costs 10 mana.

Description

Roll an intellect check against a character you are making eye contact with. If successful, they perceive you as an ally for the next hour.

If you scored a critical, they will be willing to enter combat alongside you.

If you scored a double crit they will switch sides mid combat.

If you scored a triple crit, they will act as your shield if you are about to take a fatal hit. They will not stray more than 20 feet from you.

Effects

Charms a person for an hour.

Flare

College of Energy

Limitations

Costs 1 mana, requires a pointing gesture.

Description

Point anywhere. A bright light shoots from your fingertip up to 500 feet in any direction. This light can be seen for miles, but will fizzle out when it hits something.

Effects

An actual flare.

Regenerate

College of Energy

Limitations

Costs 5 mana and all your AP for one turn. Requires a spoken phrase.

Description

You take a deep breath, focus, and calm your mind. Everything will be alright.

Effects

Regenerate 8 hp.
